Curriculum & Staffing
We ensure that we offer and follow government requirements for a curriculum that leads to National approved learning outcomes and prepares our children to progress with confidence into full time schooling. Our OFSTED report is available online at www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports, or we can send a copy on request.
We have four regular members of staff, three of whom have been trained through the Pre-School Learning Alliance (PLA) and hold PLA Diplomas in pre-school practice. Staff training is a top priority and staff are encouraged to update their knowledge and skills through courses and Government Literature.

Record Keeping
On commencement at Pre-School each child is assigned a keyworker and this member of staff will maintain a written record of progress and achievements for the children they are responsible for. Samples of work representing milestones are collected from work within session time and kept in these records. Parents are provided with regular written reports and given the opportunity to feedback and comment on their child’s progress.
Pre-School Management
As a registered charity affiliated to the Pre-School Learning Alliance, St John’s is non-profit making and relies on a committee of parents for decision making and fund raising. It cannot legally operate without a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. The committee is usually chosen at the AGM, though people may also join during the year. All committee members have Ofsted and CRB checks done.
Parental Involvement
As a small, parent-run pre-school we do welcome and encourage parental involvement wherever possible. However, we do appreciate that each parent or carer is able to offer different levels of support depending on their individual situations. Helping can vary from simply telling friends about the pre-school to getting involved in fundraising or being on the committee. Please speak to any member of staff who will be happy to help you more. |
